Choose the on-campus dollar theater instead of regular movie theaters. They often show new movies or old cult classics. If you must go a regular movie theater, ask for student discounts and show your ID.
Take advantage of free stuff and free meals. Besides, all the cool kids wear freebie t-shirts
If you text a lot, go ahead and pay for unlimited texting. It’ll probably save you money in the long run and keep you off the phone during peak hours
If you join a Fraternity or Sorority, don’t fall into the trap of buying every single t-shirt they offer. Keep it to one per semester…and don’t worry, you’ll still graduate with more t-shirts than you’ll ever use
If you go out for the evening, use an ATM to withdraw the money you've budgeted to spend for that night. That way you won’t overspend, and you’ll avoid those $10 minimum purchases at all the bars by using your debit card
Property rights protect the buying and selling of music on the internet. So even though another student's music library is available when using your university's network, it is still illegal to take that music. Universities strongly monitor the use of networks and have ways of tracking illegal pirating of music, movies, and other media.
When you start planning vacations such as Spring Break, make sure you plan ahead by searching the internet for the best prices on hotels and transportation. Websites like Kayak.com are great because they compile all of the best prices from all of the discount travel websites. Also, be skeptical of heavily-promoted all-inclusive Spring Break trips because they are usually overpriced considering the amenities you receive, and often contain hidden fees.
Other vacation advice: make sure you plan out how you will finance the trip in advance, perhaps by saving a portion of your paycheck or allowance. Do not use a credit card to buy the trip with money you do not have.
